The strike announced as of Monday January 29 has now been postponed by two weeks upon the decision by the Minister of Labour. The strike will start on February 12th 2018 at earliest, if collective agreement cannot be reached.
We are monitoring the situation and will inform our customers, if necessary.
Strike action on the 2nd of February
On Friday the 2nd of February 2018 the Labour Unions under SAK will organize a one day protest against the so-called Active Model planned by the Finnish Government. The strike action will have a great impact on the freight traffics in Finland. The terminal and port operations will practically close-up for the day. The actual impact is that ferry departures of Friday will be cancelled.
The export groupage will be collected on the Wednesday instead of Thursday, and the terminal loadings will be completed by Thursday evening. The aim is to handle the part loads and full loads within the normal schedules. The DSV Customer Service will assist with more specific information about the shipments.
DSV’s LCL export terminal will not be affected by the strike and should operate normally on Friday 2nd. However, congestion at ports is possible on Thursday, and thus we recommend that all this week’s LCL export shipments should be booked and collected or delivered to port as well in advance as possible.
It will probably not be possible to pick-up the import containers from ports on Friday. Besides, the protest is expected to cause congestion at ports during Thursday the 1st of February.
Your DSV contacts can assist you with more specific information about the shipments.
The strike action may have impact on the operations of our logistics centers. However, we will do our utmost to serve you as well as possible. We recommend you will try to transfer your orders for Thursday or Monday if possible. In case you will have critical orders for Friday, please, contact your DSV contact person early in advance.
